About Living Aqua

Hydrogen water, built on science

Living Aqua is a Ukrainian technology for drinking water with dissolved molecular hydrogen (H₂) and a lowered oxidation-reduction potential (ORP). It grew out of a partnership between a practicing physician and a scientist — and it rests on a patent, university research and the worldwide body of evidence.

  • 3,000+ scientific studies
  • Developed with university scientists
  • Patented in Ukraine · No. 147656

How it all began

A physician and a scientist — together from day one

Living Aqua grew out of a simple partnership between medical practice and science. Prof. Oleh Pokotylo, a Doctor of Biological Sciences who spent decades studying water and molecular hydrogen, and physician Ivan Kulchytskyi began working toward one goal: to make hydrogen-rich water, backed by research, available to every family in Ukraine.

That partnership — the professor’s scientific foundation and everyday medical practice — gave birth to the technology we build into our pitcher and discs today.

Technology

Patented in Ukraine: Patent No. 147656

The principle behind our technology is legally protected by Ukrainian utility-model patent No. 147656, dated June 2, 2021: “A device for producing catholyte water with a negative oxidation-reduction potential by saturating it with hydrogen.”

A patent isn’t proof of any health effect. It confirms that there is a specific technical design and a clearly described method for producing water with defined physical and chemical properties.

The scientist

Prof. Oleh Pokotylo

Professor, Academician, Doctor of Biological Sciences

Oleh Pokotylo (1970–2024) devoted more than a quarter of a century to science. He worked at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University as a professor in the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics and as director of the university’s Educational and Research Institute. He was one of Ukraine’s leading researchers of the physical and chemical properties of water and of molecular hydrogen — and the scientific partner with whom Living Aqua’s technology began.

What “Academician” means. It’s an honor, not a job title: in 2019 he was elected a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine in recognition of his scientific work.

This blend of fundamental biochemistry and a medical view of water is the foundation of how Living Aqua’s technology works today — from the parameters of the water to the way you drink it every day.

Research at TNMU

Longtime friends — and fellow scientists

Molecular hydrogen is one of the priority research areas at Ternopil National Medical University (TNMU) in Ukraine. The work was led by Prof. Mykhailo Korda, Doctor of Medical Sciences, who was Rector of the university and still works there today.

Prof. Korda and Prof. Pokotylo were longtime friends and colleagues. Together they researched molecular hydrogen, and in 2023, with the professor’s son Oleh, they published the review “Effects of biological action of molecular hydrogen” in the journal Medical and Clinical Chemistry.

Molecular hydrogen isn’t a topic “made up for a product”: it has a university research base, publications and defended dissertations.

The evidence

Scientific research

More than 3,000 publications study the effects of molecular hydrogen. Here are a few key sources — see for yourself.

An international catalog of molecular hydrogen research is kept by the independent Molecular Hydrogen Institute (USA).

One technology — different formats

The discs and the pitcher share one core: Prof. Pokotylo’s magnesium–ceramic blend, which reacts with water to release hydrogen — no electricity needed. Pick the format that fits your day.

Important: hydrogen water is not a substitute for medical treatment. It’s a supportive everyday resource within an overall approach to health and well-being.
